THE NEON GOD WE MADE

Gender-smashing multimedia artist Keith Murray has created a black-light and glow-in-the-dark wonderland in the customarily bright Truck Gallery. Neon, neon, neon is the name of the game. Amidst the swirling psychedelia of the installation is a large video of Murray, with a naked hermaphroditic body, singing “I Will Always Love You” by Whitney Houston. Don’t bring grandma to this one (unless she’s super cool).

The Neon God We Made runs until May 9 at Truck Gallery.

Metal sculptures, brightly coloured with industrial-strength paint, adorn Skew Gallery’s white space. Alexander Caldwell’s perfectly crafted minimalist pieces are a departure from his previous representations of natural phenomena, using more refined shapes.

So it’s not a show, but Glenbow is unveiling its two new interactive art websites on Wednesday, April 15. The sites are already online.

ArtPad is a collection of contemporary works, resources for teachers, artist interviews (video and print) and image galleries that allow you to zoom in and explore the work.
