Truck Gallery is cheekily invested in presenting exhibitions and projects that engage with motion, driving and wheeled vehicles. First came CAMPER (Contemporary Art Mobile Public Exhibition Rig), with exhibitions run out of a 1970s camper van for three summers in a row, and now, New York artist Paul Notzold’s bike brigade will take to the streets for an interactive evening on wheels.
His TXTual Healing series involves text messaging, projections and public spaces, encouraging participants to literally dial up a collaborative piece of public art from their phone. Bring your bike and send a text, then Notzold pairs your message with images to project it larger-than-life on public buildings for all to see. It’s going to be a “be there or be square” art event this summer.
Meet at IDEAL Artspace for the one-night-only bike tour on Saturday, July 19. An opening reception kicks things off at 8 p.m.
