It’s a giddyup and giggle sort of thing. The Calamity Janes’ Comedy Night saddles up for two evenings of laughs, May 23 and 24, at the Arrata Opera Centre. Two homegrown funny ladies, Cory Mack and Ophira Esienberg, will take to the stage in a show Mack describes as, “Smart, sassy and a great night of comedy.”

Originally from small-town Saskatchewan, Mack has called Calgary home for more than 25 years. A quick-witted standup pro, she has recently performed a lot of corporate gigs. Mack is thrilled to be joined for the Calamity Janes’ performances by Eiseneberg, originally from our city but now living and performing in New York.

Though performance attendees will be treated to a wild night of comedy delivered by two women and hosted by a third, special guest MC Karen O’ Keefe, Mack contends, “It’s not a chick show.”

She maintains it’s always been her practice to perform material that appeals to a broad audience. “My jokes could be done by a guy,” she says, “Certainly, there’s an influence of a female perspective, but the reality is, we are all in this together.”
