| With the Stampede just around the corner, I have to wonder how many animals will be injured and killed this year for our "entertainment."
What bothers me the most is that many Calgarians will continue to blindly purchase tickets to support this cruelty. The animals that are injured usually suffer enormous pain due to broken bones and heart attacks before they are finally euthanized. People don't seem to get the message that rodeo is not something that enhances our image as a city. Citizens need to speak out in support of a full ban on rodeos in Calgary.
I suggest that people stay away from the Stampede entirely this year, and not even give the Stampede the benefit of their $13 gate admission. To me, that is the best way to send a message that the rodeo is not cool.
