BAD BRAINS
Build a Nation
Megaforce

· Bad Brains have never sounded so good on latest release.

Yeah, the Brainsmen are one of the revolutionary founders of hardcore and responsible for upping rock’s speed limit without crashing. For that they deserve reverence. But they have broken up and reformed umpteen times, haven’t put out a consistently good album for over 20 years, and weathered singer H.R.’s mental problems. So, the news of another reformation and another studio recording elicits another yawn… until you press play.

They haven’t sounded this good since Rock For Light! Evidently, the pep talk from Beastie Boys Adam Yauch (who sits in the producer’s chair), worked wonders. Dr. Know’s angular riffs rage with speedy precision. Darryl Jenifer’s bass is fatter than a sumo’s ass. The hardcore clocks in at under two minutes per jam. The reggae sounds better than ever with the addition of organ. Jah damn! It’s a miracle.
