SATELLITE PARTY

· The life of the party Perry Farrell invites friends Flea, Fergie and John Frusciante to become art revolutionaries in space.
You have to hand it to Perry Farrell. The man set out to make a soundtrack to a party for art revolutionaries in space and that is exactly what he did. From the opening, "get your groove on, new shiny shoes on" to the closing, "just try and stop us, were going to love," Perry Farrells Satellite Party Ultra Payloaded delivers the spaced-out goods.
Like any good party, the album has a bevy of guests including Flea, Fergie, John Frusciante and Thievery Corporation. The Bee Gees and Jim Morrison even travel from beyond the grave to make the scene.
With a little help from his wife and a lot of help from Extreme guitarist Nuno Bettencourt, Farrell is the perfect host, allowing each of his guests to take centre stage, while keeping them contained within the concept of the album. Though sometimes it is more a chance to refresh your drink then to put those shiny shoes to good use, each track brings something a bit different to the proceedings.
While it wont have the lasting impact of his work with Porno For Pyros or Janes Addiction, Perry Farrells Satellite Party is a fun little night out that is worth the price of admission.
