FICTION PLANE
The Left Side of the Brain
Bieler Bros. Records Inc.

· In his father’s shadow – Sting’s offspring’s new album a complete mess.

Fiction Plane front man Joe Sumner is Sting’s son, and he’s a dead ringer for the old man vocally. The difference between Fiction Plane and The Police is, well, everything else.

Where the Police combined the rum-smoothness of reggae with the spit-and-octane of British punk to pioneer a completely unique style, Fiction Plane just sounds like you’re standing in a common room of a thin-walled college dorm where everyone’s trying to get their music louder than everyone else. The band’s sound is closer to Bedouin Soundclash than Bob Marley, more like Simple Plan than the Sex Pistols.

In other words, it’s a complete mess.
