| Re: "Dyer Wrong About Climate Change, China," Merle Terlesky, Letters, March 15-21, 2007.
Merle, your letter is a gross mis-representation of the truth. I wonder if you attended the same talk with the same Gwynne Dyer as I and others did. He did not suggest Canada "make deals" with China. He said the U.S. has been forming secret alliances with other countries (including India) against China. He did not say we need to make reductions of 30 per cent "so India and China can have what we have." He said we all (India and China too) must make those reductions or everyone on earth dies. India and China are, by virtue of their own economies, going to have what we have one day whether we try to stop them or not. Our governments continue to allow private companies to run roughshod over environmental regulations. If David Suzuki's recent cross-country tour to raise awareness about environmental necessities is an evil, what on this scorched earth do you consider to be good? Dyer's point, and mine, is that we must all work together if we are going to survive. Some of us, clearly, need to work together more than others.
