· Like an Altoid for your headphones.

You don’t have to be a follower of the works of ethnomixicologist Johnny Fiasco, or an admirer of the techno-wizardry of DJ extraordinaire Justin Martin to appreciate this uber-cool two-disc collection of chilled beats and Antarctic remixes. All that these 32 electrified tracks ask is that you relax and keep an open mind, and soon the last trappings of any Christmas musak that still lingers in the attic of your mind with be expelled with due haste. Even that nauseating K-Fed snippet that got lodged in the corner after watching one too many of those "most overrated of 2006" montage shows over the holidays. What can you say about yet another compilation disc from a company that has brought the genre to new heights? Om Records has an appropriate mix of artists and songs waiting in the wings for every holiday and season. With endless remixing potential, their incestuous talent pool could trade songs indefinitely, reinventing and revamping each other to dance floor perfection. Whether you’re getting your groove on to Soul Avengers’s "Don’t Let Morning Come" or chillaxin to the low-rider-lovin’ White Lotus Society and their "Space Cadillac," Om’s Winter Sessions goes down like an iced cappuccino on a minus 20 degree January morning. Unnecessary, but somehow satisfying.
