CORVID LORAX
Kalashini-Cancerous
Little Whore Records

· Edmonton MC releases debut solo disc of 15 diverse confections. Enjoyable and accessible even for hip hop novices.

Known for his role in collective Eshod Ibn Wyza alongside the likes of DJ Madame Wang and Hypolite A, Corvid’s solo effort incorporates 11 MC’s and runs the gamut from pulsating, hypnotic tracks like "Madd Hatter" to sonic cacophonies, some complete with sludgy guitar riffs.

With a rapid-fire delivery and unique blend of underlying beats and lyrical subject matter (even something about feta cheese is yelled out), Kalashini-Cancerous has enough twists and turns to keep from being monotonous. Only sounding like Eminem on a few snippets, the majority of the album is clever, intelligent and addictive. Though a few of the guest appearances detract from Corvid’s captivating style, usually the multiple vocal and rhyming styles, for the most part, enhance the final product.
