· "New maestros-in-waiting of electro-alt-rock"

–Alternative Press.

Even if that quote didn’t have too many hyphens, it must be said that Alternative Press hasn’t really hit the mark since 1994. Why they are going gaga over Mute Math I’ll never know. It’s merely adequate synth-heavy pop rock, but with so many others doing it so much better, you wonder why Warner Bros. thought they should clean up and reissue the second album from New Orleans’s most boring band. It’s Coldplay without the massive budget. It’s Radiohead without the chops or the eccentricities. It’s Bloc Party without the dance floor frenzy. It’s Broken Social Scene with fewer members. It’s Nada Surf if they decided to phone it in.
