COUNSELLING SERVICES AND CRISIS LINES

Support and services are available for those dealing with sexual abuse, family planning choices, sexual identity and other issues. Services are either free or can be assessed on a sliding scale and are confidential.

Calgary Communities Against Sexual Abuse (CCASA)

Phone: 237-6905 (main line) or 237-5888 (24 hour support and information line)

Offers crisis intervention, counselling programs, community outreach, 24-hour support line, educational programs, 24-hour call-out as part of the Calgary Sexual Assault Response Team (CSART), transportation to a medical facility, group counselling and empowerment weekend.

Offers individual counselling, workshops and therapy groups.

Calgary Police Service

Offers support for those reporting an assault.

Calgary Health Region, Grief Support Program, Grace Women’s Health Centre

Provides short and long-term counselling services.

Distress Centre

Offers 24-hour crisis intervention line, referral services and short-term counselling.

The Rockyview Hospital

The Calgary Sexual Response Team is located at the Rockyview Hospital Emergency Department offering support, testing and treatment for victims of sexual assault.

Women’s Centre of Calgary

Offers peer support, counselling, crisis intervention, groups and other programs.

For information on sexuality, AIDS, birth control, emergency contraception, pelvic examinations, pap tests, abortion, testing and treatment for sexually transmitted infections, pregnancy tests, pregnancy options counseling and IUD insertion, the clinics below offer confidential support.
