THE SLITS
Revenge of the Killer Slits
S.A.F. Records
· Three new songs from legendary all-girl punk band.
Slits front woman Ari Up has been very busy over the last few years, releasing solo albums and touring. Perhaps it is only natural that this has generated interest in a Slits reunion. With "Number One Enemy," the Slits bring out the buzzing guitars that proved they could wield as good as the boys close to 30 years ago. The slow stomp of the dub opener, "Slits Tradition," picks up where the band left off with its love of punk/reggae fusion, but it is the final track, "Kill Them With Love," a breakbeat number that indicates the Slits may be heading off in new directions.
With just three songs its hard to tell where the Slits are at, but they are definitely looking to be as interesting now as they were when they started.
