JOHN LITHGOW
The Sunny Side of the Street
Razor & Tie
· "Scooch closer, children. Dont make me tell you again about the scooching."
Rather nostalgic, mildly depressing, generally annoying yet slightly less intimidating than listening to Christopher Walken read "Goodnight Moon," award-winning actor/author John Lithgows (pronounced Lithgo, like Glasgow) latest addition to his growing line of books (six in print, soon to be seven) and CDs (this is his third) is once again aimed at the underage crowd. Were talking way underage, as in 0-6-year-olds (including those simpleminded adults who enjoyed watching 3rd Rock From the Sun). As creepy as it might sound, Lithgow seems to take his greasy kids stuff quite seriously. He even has a tot-friendly website www.lithgowforkids.com, featuring his very own "Lithgowpalooza" of products available for purchase. Produced by JC Hopkins, The Sunny Side of the Street features guest appearances by Madeleine Peyroux, Wayne Knight (Seinfelds Newman), Broadways Sherie Rene Scott and cabaret star Maude Maggart. Talk-singing his way through 13 so-called classics from The Great American Songbook such as "Getting to Know You" (OK thats definitely creepy), "Inka Dinka Doo" (more so) and "Song of the Sewer" (I rest my case), Lithgow transforms himself from psycho villain to cheesy vaudevillian with umbrella and bowler hat at the ready.
