SPENCER DICKINSON
The Man Who Lives For Love
Yep Roc

· Originally released in Japan in 2001, this is one of those rare occasions where the domestic release has more material than the import.

Jon Spencer is no stranger to collaboration, having played with Pussy Galore, the Blues Explosion and Heavy Trash among others. In this incarnation as Spencer Dickinson, the diminutive soul machine teams up with the Dickinson brothers from The North Mississippi All Stars and The Man Who Lives For Love proves to be the best of both worlds. Spencer brings some much-needed grit to the overly slick All-Stars sound and the Dickinsons bring their well-honed chops. The grooves are deep and funky and while some of the bonus material is nothing more than filler, when this album hits, it hits hard.
