HELLOGOODBYE
Zombies! Aliens! Vampires! Dinosaurs!
Drive Thru

· Debut full-length of California power-pop band eerily similar to early Reggie and The Full Effect.

Bathed in frothy, light vocals and kitschy keyboard/synth bubbles, Zombies! Aliens! Vampires! Dinosaurs! bips and bops deliriously with so much genuine glee, it’s hard not to be sucked in. The initial bars of "All Time Lows" might cause one to sing lyrics from Reggie and The Full Effect’s Greatest Hits 1984-1987 and the chorus from "Here (In Your Arms)" strikes fear as it momentarily recalls Cher’s "Believe."

Aside from the minor panic attack, the rest of the album wanders through a lollipop-and-sunshine minefield without coming off too annoying or cutesy. Destined for summertime road trips or the soundtrack to the next teen romantic comedy, Hellogoodbye have stumbled onto a formula that, albeit, isn’t earth-shattering or complex, but works well for them. Hopefully they won’t bitter with age.
