Soul Gospel Vol. 2
Soul Jazz Records

· Thank God for Soul Jazz. Can I get an "Amen!"

This is one of those rare cases where the sequel is just as good as the original. Soul Jazz abandons its geographically specific funk reissues in favour of a heartfelt spiritual revue. Raise your hands and move your feet, ’cause whether these artists are reinterpreting traditional gospel numbers, or paying tribute to modern greats like Isaac Hayes and Stevie Wonder, there are 20 tracks here guaranteed to get the congregation moving, even if you are a fan of something more secular. If The Staple Singers cover of "For What It’s Worth" doesn’t make you believe in a higher power, then there was probably no hope for you anyway.
