THE SLEEPING
Questions and Answers
Victory

· Fake can be just as good.

With the sandpaper vocals, stuttering post-punk guitars and hints of electronics on the drums, The Sleeping sound remarkably like the now-defunct At the Drive In (ATDI). Despite the old adage, imitation is usually more of a cheat than a sincere form of flattery, but since ATDI broke up and left us with two inferior bands, The Sleeping aren’t so much copping out as filling a void. The songs are hooky and angry, the production is punchy and Victory sets a new record by having more than one good band on their menacing, but boring, label. If you miss ATDI and just can’t get into Sparta or The Mars Volta, then Questions and Answers is definitely for you.
