NIGHTLIFE

The sun is setting… time to lock lips with your favourite hunny-bunny!
Get it on at the best places to make out during a sunset
Everyone has a few special places that can set them back into their place. You know what I’m talking about – you’re four and you’re going somewhere exciting, and your sister is saying something silly, and you want to laugh but you just can’t take your little eyes off the array of colours stepping so surely in and out of the sky.

Maybe you don’t realize it in that moment, but the truth is it doesn’t really matter. You grow up, learn how to wear yourself out and long for that captivating ceasefire to stop the show. So what if you’re late for work? So what if you can’t figure it all out? Unless it’s really raining, you’ve always got that damn sunset.

But you’re no longer a teetotalling toddler, and sometimes it’s just not enough to fix your attention on the twilight. Nowadays it means so much more to see the effect that refracted sunbeams have on some other earthling’s features, especially while engaged in a lip-locking endeavour filled with that munificently clear realization that there is nowhere else you’d like to be.

In a city as young as Calgary, you may think it difficult to find the perfect spot for you and your second set of lips to engage in the reclamation of the western horizon. After all, Calgary lacks the romantic attraction of the Eiffel Tower, the overpowering scenery of the Pacific coastline, and the sense of relief associated with looking out of Manhattan into Jersey.

However, there are plenty of excellent spots in this city for making out during sunsets:

· If you’re the type who thinks a skyline is sexy, Crescent Hill is probably the place for you. Heading north on 10th Street out of Kensington, you’re going to want to hold on tight as you hang a right onto Crescent Road. It’s a pretty popular place, though, so try not to get too carried away.

· If you want a little extra privacy, there is nowhere better than South Glenmore Park. There are a few benches tucked away in bunches of trees off the beaten path. It’s very romantic to make out just steps away from an entire municipality’s drinking water.

· Big fan of babbling brooks? In love with car exhaust and have a penchant for danger? You’ve got no choice but to sit up on the edge of the 10th Street Bridge and wrap your arms around your date. It’s peaceful in a somewhat unsettling way. Just be wary of that Bow River – it’s further away and faster than it seems.

· There is a lookout point on Signal Hill – above the mysterious numbers written out in large white stones – that faces west and affords an absolutely stunning view of the Rockies.

The nightlife may be the right life, but it’s beside the point. At sunset there is no wrong place to be, as long as you’re getting a little love, somewhere in this big city of lovers.
