THE DAGGERS
Tear it to Pieces
Sloth Records

· The Daggers live up to their album title for their second full-length.

Tear it to Pieces is the kind of take-no-prisoners rock that Calgary stakes its claim on. Part Sex Pistols punk, part garage-rock rave-up, all high-octane intensity, front man Brad Paffe yowls and grunts his way through 12 boozin’, bruisin’ anthems.

All the members of The Daggers are local scene vets, and in that sense this outfit easily qualifies for supergroup status. However, Tear it to Pieces lacks the haughty pretension that usually comes with that label. This is a shameless, no-frills slab of straight-up rock with monolithic riffs and the power of a freight train. Get on or get out of the way.
