SONDRE LERCHE AND THE FACES DOWN QUARTET

Duper Sessions

Astralwerks

· Swedish crooner goes adult contemporary.

Sondre Lerche, why did you record this? Did you want to follow in the tracks of Matt Dusk and Matthew Buble? Because you could have said that upfront, and I could have told you "no" and the disappointing, rather boring album you’ve made would not be lodged in my iTunes trash bin.

Where did you go wrong? Remember the quiet, poppy songs you used to record that benefited from a little something lost in translation from Swedish to English? How darling and sweet they were. Your songs used to have a bit of the swing crooner element to them – and a little goes a long way. With Duper Sessions, you and The Faces Down Quartet have gone overboard. Alas, you’ve gone the adult contemporary route and it’s really boring. You also look very thin on your album cover – have you been eating well?
