JETS OVERHEAD
Bridges
Microgrove/Warner

· Quiet is the new loud.

With a new name and new lease on life, Jets Overhead (formerly Special Guests) of Victoria, B.C., are hitting their stride. Last year’s limited release debut album, Bridges, has been picked up for wider distribution, and the band is earning increasingly regular opening spots for other major Canadian acts. With a lot of buzz behind them, Jets Overhead are creating a lush guitar-driven pop sound with layers of ethereal vocals, reminiscent at times of SIANspheric, and attracting quite a few fans swept away by their quiet sound. Subtle ’60s psychedelia influences float in the background, but the band constantly refrains from launching into My Bloody Valentine or Jesus and Mary Chain territory, dreamily content to while away the hour.
