DEADBOY & THE ELEPHANTMEN
We Are Night Sky
Fat Possum

· Pay attention Stephen McBean. This is how you do it.

As everyone goes ape shit for the new Pink Mountaintops album, I’d like to draw your attention to a duo from Houma, Louisiana. Dax Riggs traded in the heavy-metal posturing of his old outfit, Acid Bath, and teamed up with Tessie Brunet for a project that blends hand-plucked acoustic laments with heavy blues-based rock-outs.

With timid two-part harmonies balanced with balls-out boogie, Deadboy & the Elephantmen take it all over the map. It’s pretty when it needs to be, swampy when it wants to be and raw as hell all the way through. While Stephen McBean takes curtain calls behind that freaky beard of his for Axis of Evol, Riggs and Brunet will be quietly showing him up.
