When you decide to get a tattoo, there’s a few ways you can go. You can pick a design off the wall that tons of people already have, a cartoon character or maybe a cool oriental symbol. You could bring in something you’ve seen a couple of times and think looks great, or you could create a design that is uniquely yours – one that no one has ever seen before. The same applies to music and The Tattooed Kid has tried his hardest for two years to achieve the third option.
So what work of art has he come up with? Think Kid Rock in his basement before he had the major label backing, then colour it with the sounds of southern rock and tequila and touch it up with some Santana and blues. For a few tracks, this mix works and you can almost hear it being used as part of the soundtrack for the next "inspiring teacher in south central L.A." movie. Unfortunately, there are just not enough of those songs to make the album anything more than a passable first solo effort that combines guitars, beats, booze and a special green baggie here and there.
