THE LADIES
They Mean Us
Temporary Residence

· A guy from Hella + a guy from Pinback = The Ladies.

Moving from quick fixes of noise to more fleshed-out tracks, The Ladies bring rock diversity to your stereo. This slight schizophrenia could be attributed to the fact that the album was recorded over two years at a variety of locations – and somehow it all just makes They Mean Us a more listenable recording.

The rapid hilarity of "Black Metal in the Hour of Starbucks" is a great complement to the melodic math of "Vacation, Asphyxia, Vacation." Heavy music plus weightless vocals make me happy, hence my delight with "So Much for the Fourth Wall."

The Ladies – Zach Hill (Hella) and Rob Crow (Pinback) – have made a fun, uncomplicated record that takes a relaxed approach to rocking out. It probably won’t change the world, but it might make a few music fans smile.
