THE CLASS OF 98
Touch This And Die
The Militia Group

· But I don’t want to touch it! The Class of 98 unsuccessfully mix Nashville country with emo..

Pretty much what you’d expect from four twentysomething indie rockers from Nashville. The Class of 98 brings Jimmy Eat World back to the old homestead for some hayrides and cornbread. Sure they can sing and strum as well as the next twang-pop band, but perhaps the true secret to the ‘98ers growing fan base is the fact that they wash up real good (think Il Divo with farmer tans). Add to that some sweetly swelling melodies and a smattering of hopelessly romantic lyrics, "I wrote you eight half letters/You ripped them up/But put together maybe you don’t think we’re still friends/But I’m with you everywhere you go/Cause everywhere you go is everywhere I go." OK, maybe just hopeless. Ripe with parent-pleasing messages about thanking God, ditching drugs, saving angels, dry humping and forgoing suicide (at least until their upcoming live appearance at the Praiseland Aquastage), the Tiger Beat-worthy smiling visages of these non-threatening country gentlemen will surely be enjoying a stint on the ever-evolving altar of idolatry known as the teenage girl’s bedroom wall.
