My friends claim that I am impossible to buy for. This may stem from my elitist claims to only shop when I am out of the country and to special order everything else from my best friend, the Internet. However, I have been recently warned to stay away from my favourite commerce stops, for fear of "ruining the surprise." Ha! Little do my friends know my Visa and I still have a few tricks left in that old bag.
My new daily dose of what's new and notable arrives via hypebeast.com. In just over a year, Hypebeast has grown from a sneaker pimp's database to a solid resource for what's up and coming in street fashion, art, toys and sneakers. The site is usually updated daily, but if you can't keep up, there are archives and interest categories to make the most out of your visit. The site is not for the weak willed, you will be broke if you are prone to impulse buying or shopping online.
If I'm looking to spend a rebate cheque fast, I make a quick stop at justbecomplex.com, a hodgepodge of must-have goods. You'll find Korean horror flicks, Scott Musgrove toys and artwork from artists such as Anthony Tremmaglia, Evan Harris and Kenichi Hoshine.
So what's the safest bet for an annoying person like me in the gift-giving department? Just draw me a picture, bake me a cake or indulge me with a video game match – I can take care of the rest. |
