Maybe the sheets are to blame
Sleep. It's rare these days to find someone who's content with the number of hours their head rests on the pillow. Some people lie awake until the wee hours of the morning, staring at their clocks, while others roll out of bed and count on the warming glow of the television or computer screen to find relief.

I've tried a few remedies when I've found myself in that hellish combination of exhausted body and overactive mind, including reading, not eating after a certain time or cutting out coffee early in the day. None of it works. I have the soothing white noise of my humidifier, the warmth of an electric blanket and Curious George pyjamas – I'm starting to think it may be the sheets.

Perhaps I need a calming duvet cover that brings me back to the natural world or a collection of Belgian linen pillows in colours like peacock and cocoa. A journey to amenityhome.com offers a glimpse of what a restful night's sleep might look like. "Amenity is a Los Angeles based design studio founded by Nicole Chiala and Kristina de Corpo. Our goal is to create beautiful, yet useful, everyday objects of high quality that reflect the warmth and beauty of nature." Of course, in L.A., getting back to nature will start at $55 US for a set of pillow shams and end at $455 US for a king-size duvet.

I guess I'll stick with my Star Wars sheets. I'm not sure I'd rest so easy wondering how I'd pay for my new slumber-inducing linens.
