Ikeda is one of the few in his field to genuinely merit the title of electronic composer, as opposed to that of inspired tinkerer.
On his seventh full-length album, he delivers a carefully thought out, 55- minute long, minimalist laptop symphony of drones, beats and glitches. It’s certainly not for everyone, but it’s this sort of thing that keeps electronica from stagnating – look for echoes of it on the 2007 pop charts.
