| I think Christmas can be a very nice time of year. I'm sure I would enjoy it very much if I didn't have to wait an hour for a cab or listen to endless loops of bastardized Christmas carols.
I really do want to enjoy It's A Wonderful Life, pull the little doors on one of those chocolate-filled Advent calendars, and drink rum and egg nog. I knew last year I had become jaded about Christmas when I had an emotional meltdown over a real decorated tree being in my living room. I had forgotten the true spirit of Christmas, but this year I have a plan. I believe the key is to fully absorb the 12 steps, er, days of Christmas.
Apparently I have my work cut out for me. With more than 140 versions of the classic Twelve Days of Christmas available at www.cs.umd.edu/users/gasarch/12days.html, there's plenty of cheer. There's some popular favourites like The Hoser Christmas with Bob and Doug McKenzie, extremely nerdy coding programs that supply code for printing out the Twelve Days of Christmas, and the truly inexplicable On the Twelve Days of Christmas my Orthodontist Gave to Me.
I think I'll have the Twin Peaks and Space Ghost Coast to Coast versions down by Christmas Eve. |
