SAO PARIS
Movimento
F Communication

· Daydream music and sound poems.

Fans of France’s F Communication might be disappointed to find that this is not a dance album, in the vein of St. Germain or Llhorca. Rather it is mood music, filled with introspection and daydreams. Described as a "literary-dreamy-electronic atmosphere," Sao Paris’s cocoon-like debut album, Movimento represents the conjunction of Sao Paulo born Leticia Mauro and Parisian DJ Thomas Ferreire.

Inspired by a heavy modernist influence, abstract art decorates the album cover. Mauro’s literary and journalism background meets up with Ferreire’s love of bossa nova and cool jazz and together the two paint sound poems filled with the vibrant imagery of the subconscious mind.

On the lead-off "Movimento" and "Woman Rainbow" Ferreire takes his cool grooves and adds fractured beats, street sounds, distortion and dissonance, further enhancing the dream-like quality of Mauro’s lyrics. Tracks like "Butterfly" or "Notebook of Dreams" contain a literary quality that grounds the listener, helping to keep you from stumbling into traffic signs as you walk through the Place des Vosges park on your way to the "Rue de Rivoli."
