The writer raves about the renovated restaurant and the vast array of animal delicacies on which to dine, and seems prepared to accept the recommendation of the general manager to sample the Foie Gras Ravioli during her next visit. Is she aware of the disgusting, cruel method involved in obtaining this product? A goose is strapped down, a funnel is pushed into its throat, and then grain is poured in an extremely painful procedure that is performed several times daily.
Israel, the worlds fourth largest supplier of foie gras, has banned the force-feeding of geese and ducks as a result of a campaign supported by the World Society for the Protection of Animals and led by Anonymous for Animal Rights. The time is long overdue to treat the creatures with whom we share the planet in a decent, compassionate manner.
