Anti-abortion advocate shouldn’t get last word
Re: "Children sacrificed to the gods of convenience," by Daniel Bidulock, Letters, November 10-16, 2005.

Shame on Fast Forward. To give the last word in an abortion debate to an authoritarian, pro-life zealot, whose only interest is controlling others and forcing them to conform to their preferred ideology, is tantamount to overlooking 30 years of progress and gazing back longingly at the "good ol’ days" – when women were denied sovereignty over their own bodies.

A million and a half American women have abortions every year. It is not going to change. If you feel strongly anti-choice, that’s fine, just don’t expect me to feel that way and don’t try to enact laws that force others to behave that way.

That Fast Forward acknowledging these atavists just spurs them on and motivates them. (Today its abortion, tomorrow it’s the science of evolution?) I realize that you, to a certain extent, must support the corporate globalization agenda (which corporate master owns you?), but when it comes to issues like abortion, giving equal time to throwbacks is counterproductive. Abortion is the established law of the land. If you don’t support abortion, I suggest not having one. Let everyone else decide for themselves.

Enough already, it’s settled. Get on with your own life, go your own way and for god’s sake, leave people the hell alone.
