The Warlocks are a Californian band, and Surgery shimmers like a day spent staring into the haze glaring off an ocean. The Warlocks' melodies shine through fuzzy guitars in the tradition of The Jesus and Mary Chain or the Spacemen 3. Songs like "It's Just Like Surgery" and "Bleed Without You Babe" are pure bubblegum laced with PCP. The Warlocks may well be the kings of West Coast psychedelic pop.
