The Flying Spaghetti Monster wants to enlighten the world
It's very difficult these days to hone in on a bandwagon worth jumping on. You may feel safe in assuming that the media at large is doing its job of informing you bout the latest effort involving Tom Cruise or Madonna. Perhaps you follow the tabloids, the entertainment news programs and office chit-chat looking for enlightenment. Trend-setters know that religion is the new black, and with the growing popularity of pirates in our social subconscious, wouldn't it be fantastic to combine the two under the rule of a Flying Spaghetti Monster?

Bobby Henderson is the leader of the movement to bring the word of the Flying Spaghetti Monster into schools as a companion to Intelligent Design and Evolutionary Theories. The Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster at venganza.org is a fairly laid-back dogma with flimsy moral standards, frequent religious holidays and a heaven consisting of a beer volcano and stripper factory. Teachings must be presented in full pirate regalia, otherwise the Flying Spaghetti Monster becomes angry. Henderson has also provided a graph illustrating that global warming, responsible for many of our current crises in the world, is directly related to the declining number of pirates. With evidence like this it’s tough to decry the legitimacy of his noodly appendage and its role in our creation.

With many Pastafarians (the name given to the believers) spreading the word through demonstrations, and a celebrity endorsement by a member of Hoobastank, the movement is undeniably growing. You can’t ignore the impact of a religion whose second coming is based on a saviour named Macaroni.
