DANGER DOOM
The Mouse and the Mask
Epitaph

· The food-loving MF Doom and the furry-suit wearing, Jay-Z sampling Danger Mouse team up with the Aqua Teen Hunger Force (ATHF) to bust out the beats.

I love team ups, side projects and novelty hip hop, so for me The Mouse and the Mask is pure gold. But to dismiss the album as just those things would be a mistake. Even without guest appearances by many characters from the Cartoon Network (not to mention Talib Kweli and Money Mark), this album would be fantastic. The beats are solid, the rhymes never stop and the grooves are deep. The fact that Doom can create more than one killer track around cartoon characters just proves how strong a writer he is. Danger Mouse is no slouch, either, laying down retro horn hits and phased-out guitar over a handful of mid-tempo jams. Hearing ATHF’s Meatwad freestyle is just a bonus.
