ARMAND VAN HELDEN
Nympho
SPG Music

· The latest release from hard-edged house DJ.

Armand van Helden flexes his robust sound on this 13-song offering. Early ’80s disco sounds are resurrected and re-created, then strapped to jet-engine bass lines, fuelled by high-powered guitar riffs. Nympho is a relentless dance album for rockers. The gem of the set is "When the Lights Come Down," built around a brief guitar lick from Queen’s "We Will Rock You" and a driving house rhythm. This is no island-hopping Ibiza party album. There are no slow songs here and no tender moments – van Helden wants no come down. The sounds are dirty, sweaty and vampish. From start to finish this album is designed to move denim- and leather-clad asses onto the dance floor at warehouse parties on the wrong side of town on sultry summer nights.
