| Re: "Socialism that succeeded," by Timothy Wild, Books, May 26 - June 1, 2005.
It was with interest that I read Timothy Wild's well-written review of Dream No Little Dreams. Having read this book myself, I concur with Mr. Wild's assessment of the book's main focus, that being the accomplishments of several dedicated, and often unsung, individuals, including the oft-maligned Woodrow Lloyd.
Indeed, it is often forgotten that it was Mr. Lloyd who presided over the doctor's strike in the wake of Medicare implementation in Saskatchewan, while Mr. Douglas was building the national NDP.
This book is worth reading to remind us of the struggle many people undertook in Saskatchewan to bring Universal Health Care to that province and eventually the country as well as the strength of purpose it will take to keep our health care system in the hands of the people.
