Classic thrillers at the Plaza
If you’re a suspense fan with fond memories of when the Plaza theatre was a repertory house, take note – two golden oldies are scheduled to play there this weekend.

Brian De Palma’s Sisters (1973) features Margot Kidder as a woman with a disturbing past involving her twin sister. De Palma’s split-screen photography and homages to Hitchcock are in full force here. Sisters will screen at 11 p.m., Friday, May 27.

Next up is Carol Reed’s The Third Man (1949), starring Orson Welles as the unforgettable Harry Lime. This is a genuine classic and Welles has stated that it’s the only one of his movies he could repeatedly watch on television. The Third Man will screen at noon on Saturday, May 28. The two screenings are fundraisers for local filmmaker Mike Peterson’s next project, The Curse of the Piano.
