· Hey, you kids! Get out of that Jell-o tree!

The word duplex evokes images of two neighbours dutifully trying to ignore the noises that filter through their communal wall. Rather than pitching a battle of stereo wars with her own bi-housed equivalents, indie-rock entrepreneur Veda Hille opted to roll up her sleeves and invited her neighbours and their parents to join her in a band that revels in all of that greasy kid stuff.

Recruiting P:ano drummer Justin Kellam; a couple of nose trumpet playing 11 year olds; Annie Wilkinson and Matt Caruso of The BeeKeepers and their three year old son; Shaun Brodie of A.C. Newman and The Neins Circa and her own husband, Veda Hille lets loose with a collection of 18 tracks aimed squarely at the little ones. Dishing up surprisingly entertaining tracks such as "Yr Mama," "Freaky Rhesus" and the ska-flavoured "DNA," Hille and her preteen posse raise a funky racket that will entertain the kids with the infectious "Pooing and Peeing" while mom croons along to "Heatin’ Up the Milk." A relatively appealing alternative to Sharon, Lois and Bram or Barney, Ablum reminds us how much we love our pets and why you don’t win friends with salad – "It tastes like dirt!"
