If the U.K. music press is anything to go by, the ultimate in cool these days is messing up your big shot with drugs and letting your on-the-cusp band fall to pieces. For a band that was supposed to be saving rock n roll, it wasnt till The Libertiness Pete Docherty went off his head on drugs and hooked up with Kate Moss that anyone really cared.
Granted, as a song, "What Became of the Likely Lads" could be a perfect epitaph for Docherty and his crew, but the rest of this EPs odds-and-sods collection of live songs and re-recorded album tracks isnt worth much. That the same can be said of The Libertines as a whole doesnt explain why Im even intrigued as to what this batch of fuck-ups will do next.
I guess theyre worth their weight in tabloids and little else.
