CEPHALIC CARNAGE
Anomalies
Relapse
· The fourth full-length from Denver, Colorados gifted metal quartet.
Being described as one of the "most challenging bands on the planet" is a double-edged sword. And the members of Cephalic Carnage have become all-too wary of such potentially backhanded compliments. Holding tight to the creative reins, the grindcore ensemble has drawn out the release of their long (perhaps too long) awaited album Anomalies.
Almost three years have passed since they launched their jazz-metal monster Lucid Interval and fans were wondering if they would ever hear from them again. Rest assured, Cephalic Carnage is back and they remain more visceral and potent than your last four-alarm hangover. Surging forth with the outlandish "Scientific Remote Viewing," the lads pour it on hard and heavy with earsplitters like "Kill for Weed," "The Will or the Way" and the darkly humorous "Dying Will Be the Death of Me." Chaotic, deadly and full of old-school metal charm, Cephalic Carnage juxtapose sloth-like doom with hypersonic thrash. As the album closes the band soundly reaffirm their uncanny ability to straddle multiple musical disciplines while subscribing to none.
