ARCHER PREWITT
Wilderness
Thrill Jockey

· This is what AM gold sounds like when done by somebody super cool…

No matter what the album, Archer Prewitt creates music for all seasons. It complements the renewal of spring and the briskness of autumn, warms winter and soaks up the summer sun. Wilderness, his fourth full-length, tenderly displays this quality once more.

There is more of a direct country-music influence on this album, including picked and plucked notes and a few yawns from the lap-steel guitar. Approaching lyrics of whimsy and happiness with the same skilful melancholy as he does confronting loss and hardship, Prewitt proves he is a charmed songwriter.

Opening with the wonderful introduction of "Way of the Sun," the album gently rises and falls with each track. Realizing a beautiful public intimacy, Wilderness doesn’t offer a single un-cozy note.
