Efterklang are being touted as the new Sigur Ros, but although they’ve got the ambition and an impressive talent for orchestration, they haven’t quite got the songwriting part pinned down yet. As such, Tripper plays more like a collage of 20th century classical avant-garde samples than a coherent new work. So it’s hard to tell whether this is a breakthrough for electronic music or just Scandinavia’s answer to The Polyphonic Spree, but either way, it’s well worth a listen.
