| I suppose the year of comic book movies hasnt had the best start with Elektra Im sure it seemed like a good idea at the time, when you consider Ben Affleck was Daredevil. Fortunately for comic lovers, they will have several films to choose from this year.
Next up in the bid for crossover dollars is the Keanu Reeves flick Constantine, based on the DC Comics Hellblazer series. Fans will know the story well, but newbies are the target of the film adaptation with trailers, photos and artwork at constantinemovie.com. They had me at the mention of Gavin Rossdale in the cast. Release date: February 18.
My vote for the best of the bunch, based on trailers alone, has to be Frank Millers Sin City, the gritty comic noir from Dark Horse Comics. With bullets, babes and classic dialogue, this movie is billed as more of a translation from comic to screen than an adaptation. Fans will be pleased with the dynamite combo of Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller directing. Check out the trailer at apple.com/trailers/miramax/sin_city.html. Release date: April 1.
Batman Begins. Too volatile to reference. Christian Bale? Release Date: June 17.
Oh yeah, and theres that other movie with that family of superheroes you may have heard of, the Fantastic Four. Its another blockbuster, super-budget Marvel affair with Stan Lee involved at some point. The trailer looks pretty and will satisfy your Thing fetish, not that you have one. The site seems a perfect match for the movie with lots of flashy moving graphics and filler. Check out their Channel 4 news uniforms at fantasticfourmovie.com. Release Date: July 1. |
