BLACK MOUNTAIN
s/t
Scratch Records

· A five-piece that features former and present members of The Pink Mountaintops, Blood Meridian, Jerk With A Bomb and The Black Halos.

An album conceived with the artful intelligence of songwriter and vocalist Stephen McBean, Black Mountain’s self-titled release sounds as though it was born to psychedelic fits of rhythm and booze.

Unafraid, the Black Mountain army plow ahead, making references to decades of rock music before them, observing their surroundings and protesting the current state of this crazy world.

They keep the album to a relatively tight eight songs, yet each track moves through several stages, making it sound, at times, like a polyphonic opera of rock. The first few tracks, including "Modern Music" and "Don’t Run Our Hearts Around," will set the singalong in motion and your speakers on fire. The long phase-pedal heavy songs are wisely placed towards the latter half of the album, allowing your ears to prepare for that apocalypse.

Guaranteed, Black Mountain will teach a rock ’n’ roll lesson to all in attendance for the revolution.
