EARLY DAY MINERS
All Harm Ends Here
Secretly Canadian

· Finally, something worth writing home about.

The Early Day Miners have always been one of those impressive bands, that were terminally overshadowed by those around them. As label-mates to Songs:Ohia, The Swell Maps, Scout Niblett and others on the Secretly Canadian label, its been easy to lose track of what the Miners were up to. All Harm Ends Here, however, finally changes things.

Sure, its still innocuous space rock, but the Early Day Miners carve out their own variation on the usual themes – rather than darkened night skies, these guys aim at something far lighter (check the gorgeous cover fold-out of a pale beauty covering her face in red fabric somewhere in the forest). "Precious Blood" is one of those slow-burners that takes bands ages to perfect and the closer "The Purest Red" (as epic as you would expect) adds in layered backing aahs.

While there are still others who do this sort of thing better (and with a bit more personality), the Early Day Miners have become a band whose development is undoubtedly far more interesting to watch.
