Hed Kandi: The Winter Mix 2004
Hed Kandi

· Freeze your hed.

Here are three discs and 39 tracks of dance floor dynamite and ultra-lounge chilling all wrapped up in one neat, distinctively-packaged compilation. Doing what it does best, the Hed Kandi label rounds up their favourite electronic artists and attempts to separate the wheat from the dross of 2004. Leaning towards the icier side of things, disc one starts off cool with plenty of ambient tones and slithering rhythms courtesy of Late Night Alumni, Organika, and Salif Keita, whose hypnotic "Madan" leads us into the global grooves of Moonlight’s "San Salvador" and "Afrocatalans" by Danny Marquez. The second disc remixes the mood, or should I say moog, tripping the light fantastic with performers such as Anthony Acid, Mirabeau and Stonebridge. The third disc carries the most weight, with the majority of its material clocking in at the seven-minute mark. Plenty of time to explore and enjoy the season as Dirty Vegas, Moguai and Breaker J lead the party mindset to a "Higher State of Consciousness." The Winter Mix 2004 will make an entertaining, albeit repetitious, soundtrack for your next social shaker.
