Give ’Em The Boot IV
Hellcat Records

· The fourth instalment in a series that showcases L.A. punk label Hellcat.

It seems like only yesterday we were stomping our Doc Martens to the rebellious riffs of the original Give ’Em The Boot, but in fact it was 1997 when Hellcat Records released the first of these dazzlingly diverse compilations showcasing its best and brightest talents. Distributed by Epitaph Records, this volume features no less than 26 head-banging, fist-pumping tracks from such artists as Tiger Army, The Aggrolites, Brain Failure and South Central Riot Squad. From ska to hardcore to hillbilly, Give ’Em the Boot IV runs the punk-rock gamut, and then some, as old favourites mingle freely with new-found glory. Previously-unreleased numbers such as The Slackers’ "Propaganda," Nekromantics’ delightfully ghoulish "Dead Bodies" and a live version of Joe Strummer and the Mescaleros’ "Junco Partner" make this motley montage well worth checking out. I might even forgive them for kicking off the whole shebang with Rancid.
