D.O.A.
Live Free or Die
Sudden Death Records

· Another classic protest record, despite the few ska moments.

Some bands should just give it up after 10 years or so. Others should have the decency to break up and stay broken up. Very rarely does a band still enjoy playing music after 25 years and refuse to water down their sound or jump to the major labels. Take D.O.A. Despite the countless lineup changes, they’re still bringing us some of the best Canuck punk around.

You can tell you’re in for a ride when the band reworks one of their classic tunes (in this case, "Fucked Up Ronnie") into an anti-Bush rocker destined to be a classic (wanna guess what it’s called?). Vocalist-axeman Joey Shithead brings forth a masterful collection of protest songs that couldn’t have come out at a better time. Aside from the many brand-new tunes, we also get covers of such classics as "Eve of Destruction" and Bob Dylan’s "Masters of War," among others. The theme of the album is nicely summed up in the title "We Don’t Need No Goddamn War." Damn straight!

Hoist a tall, cold one for D.O.A. They’ve done it again!
